Long days shooting commercial jobs all around the UK was ruining my spine, and then my main client went bust, so I spent a few years living deep in the Andalucian countryside and volunteered my services at some animal shelters and dog photography became my new calling. Brexit ruined the fun, so I came back home with the four dogs I’d somehow managed to acquire along the way.

I’ve always been an animal lover and I was obsessed with photography from a young age. My first mentor was legendary press photographer Bill Robson who let me fill in for him on weekend jobs while I was still at school. I then studied photography at Harrogate College and went on to do more editorial work as chief photographer at Plush Magazine and Leeds Guide. I’ve used all kinds of film and digital gear, studio equipment and spent months of my life in dingy darkrooms. I currently use Nikon full-frame mirrorless cameras - I have a passion for the unique look of 1970s and 80s vintage lenses.
